With over 90 trips and tours on offer each year – from academic enrichment to physical challenges, sports tours to cultural experiences – we provide pupils with a wealth of opportunities to broaden their horizons and extend their learning beyond 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s gates.

For many pupils, these trips are life-changing, opening up a whole new perspective on the world.

"Meeting these children, whose lives could not be more different than ours, was an eye-opening, emotional experience – one which will never be forgotten by us all."

MUN Conferences

MUN Conferences

Presenting to a large audience of fellow student delegates and debating issues of international importance are key benefits that pupils gain from participating in MUN conferences. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø pupils normally attend MUN conferences at Cheadle Hulme in Manchester, Kingswood School in Bath, St Andrew’s College in Dublin and Alkmaar in Holland.

Language Immersion

Language Immersion

A key part of learning a language is to visit the country to immerse yourself in its customs and culture. Our French, German, Spanish and Italian Departments all run regular trips to countries where these languages are spoken.

Biology & Environmental Field Trips

As well as being a core part of the A-level and IB Diploma courses in the Upper School (Sixth Form), trips to destinations such as Twycross Zoo and Orielton on the Pembrokeshire coast give students invaluable, first-hand experience of learning about conservation and biodiversity.

World War 1 Battlefields

World War 1 Battlefields

Every year we take the entire Form 3 (Year 9) year group to northern France to visit the World War I Battlefields. This is a moving experience that helps to put into context the work that they have been studying in their History lessons.

Kenya Schools Project

Many of our trips have a charitable element to them. One notable example is the Kenya Schools Project Trip that takes place every February. In the months leading up to the expedition, Form 6 students fundraise for resources to take with them, then whilst they are in Kenya, they work in the primary schools, building and refurbishing classrooms, teaching lessons and playing games with the children. The pupils round off the trip with a safari, where they see some of Africa’s incredible wildlife in their natural habitat.

Sports Tour to South Africa

Sports Tour to South Africa

Held every three years, this major sports tour sees around 140 pupils, from U14 to U18 level, travel to South Africa to hone their skills and boost team spirit through intense training and competitive fixtures against local schools. For many pupils it is the highlight of their time at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. When they’re not training or playing, pupils also get a chance to experience the local culture, visit the famous sights and visit local primary schools.
