We believe the skills and experiences gained from outdoor learning are just as important to a child’s education as those acquired within it.
From the earliest age, we provide opportunities for our pupils to challenge themselves beyond the classroom, helping to develop life skills and to build self-confidence. Our Service options – the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Combined Cadet Force – are a hugely popular part of this.
Pupils in Lower 1 (Year 6) participate in a residential trip, where they get the chance to try activities such as bushcraft, canoeing and paddle boarding. In Form 3 (Year 9) pupils go on an adventure camp, with activities such as rock climbing, archery and first aid.
From Form 4 (Year 10) onwards pupils extend their adventurous learning through 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Service options – the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Combined Cadet Force – with two action-packed weekends in October and March dedicated to activities that develop pupils’ teamwork, resourcefulness and self-reliance.
